Lifelong Area Resident Loses Battle With Early Onset Alzheimer's

Deborah L. Miller, a lifelong area resident, lost her battle with early onset Alzheimer’s disease on March 16 at home with her family by her side. She was 64.

Born in Poughkeepsie on Nov. 18, 1953, she was the daughter of John and Christina Merte Whiten. Her father predeceased her and her mother survives.

She worked for the National Park Service for 30 years as a museum aide and was also a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Robert A. Miller of Hyde Park; two daughters, Chrystal and Cara Miller, both of Hyde Park; grandson, James; sister, Diane Speelman, and two nephews, all of North Carolina.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
